Qualifying Rules For Novice World Shows
There will be 2 novice world shows this year. KQHA members who qualify can select either one of thse events to attend. Here are the qualifying rules for the 2012 shows. Both shows will be held October 5-7. The Smartpak Western show will be held at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Nutrena Eastern show will be held at Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. There is a flat fee available for those wishing to enter multiple classes of $275.00 which pays all entry fees and a stall.
There are 2 ways to qualify for the shows. They are nationally and through your state.
National Qualifying:
- A top-10 placing at an AQHA regional championship show in a Novice class -or-
- Show at 20 AQHA shows throughout the year. For this latter option, competitors may show to judges around the nation – there is no regional preference or requirement.
- The national qualifying period for the Novice championship shows is May 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012.
- If a competitor nationally qualifies for a Novice championship show, their invitation to the event will not be for a specific class. As long as one of the two national qualifying options has been accomplished, an exhibitor will be able to enter any Novice championship class, provided that they are a Novice.
- If a competitor earns the required number of points to graduate out of a specific Novice class in 2011, the competitor will still be eligible to compete in that class at a 2012 Novice championship show.
In addition to qualifying, the AQHA Show Council announced that there will be no restriction on which Novice championship show an exhibitor may attend. If a competitor residing in the East wishes to attend the SmartPak AQHA Western Novice Championship Show, he or she may do so. The same goes for competitors residing in the West who would like to compete at the Nutrena AQHA Eastern Novice Championship Show. However, a competitor may only compete at one Novice championship show per year.
State Qualifying:
- The top-three riders earning the most Kansas Quarter Horse Association/Kansas Quarter Horse Youth Association Novice points from May 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012, will be qualified to enter the AQHA Novice championship shows in either Murfreesboro, Tennessee, or Las Vegas.
- In the event of a tie, the person with the most number of points earned in the least amount of shows will be the representative.
- Kansas is allowed to have a total of 120 exhibitors (three per class): reining, showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, halter (all age breakdowns), western pleasure, hunter under saddle, trail, western riding, barrels, and poles.
- KQHA qualifiers must be a member in good standing, and must volunteer at least one KQHA/KQHYA show, serve on a committee or hold a board/officer position.
- Qualifiers must reside in Kansas.
