TONY NIGRO Passes Away March 19, 2010

KQHA has recently received notice that Tony Nigro, 85, Kansas City, KS, passed away on the Feast of St. Joseph, Friday, March 19, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Tony was born December 6, 1924, in Kansas City, MO. He was co-owner of Nigro's 3-Way Supermarket for 42 years, and Nigro's Western Store. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Tony loved horses, auctions, and working with his family. Horses owned by Tony were nationally prominent during the 1970's in AQHA competition winning numerous year end high point awards. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish. Tony was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lucy Nigro, in 2008. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, George and Patty Nigro, Tony Jr. and Josephine Nigro, David and Anita Nigro; grandchildren, Katie and Angie Nigro, Michael and Allison Nigro, John-Paul Nigro, Marisa and Nathan Frymire, Serena and Brandon Moyer, Austin and David Nigro; great- grandchildren, Ava Joelle Frymire, Keegan Moyer; sister, Marie Cascio; sister- in-law and brother-in-law, Daisy and Frank Fontana; aunt, Josie Oddo; and many loving nephews and nieces.
