2010 Youth Qualifying Policy
Dues for all youth must be paid on or before Jan 17 for those fall circuit qualifying points to count toward the 2010 qualifying period.
Points will be awarded as follows:
First place will receive 1 point for every horse in the class—MAXIMUM of 10 (ten) points
Second place will receive one less point than first place
Third place will receive one less point that second place and so on.
Example: 20 horses in class:
1st=10pts, 2nd=9pts, 3rd=8pts, 4th=7pts, 5th=6pts, 6th=5pts, 7th=4pts, 8th=3pts, 9th=2pts, 10th=1pt
Example: 6 horses in class:
1st=6pts, 2nd=5pts, 3rd=4pts, 4th=3pts, 5th=2pts, 6th=1pt
All Novice shows, and youth/amateur only shows will be excluded from the qualifying process. There will be 16 qualifying shows on the weekends and the best 8 of 16 will be counted. Each exhibitor and horse combination must show in at least one circuit other than and in addition to the last qualifying circuit.

Please note the change for halter qualifying. You will still need to show in the open classes but the qualifying will be held 2 weekends in May with 3 out of 4 shows to count. Note that we can now send 4 entrants per class to the youth world.
For all classes not held at a qualifying show (working cow horse, cutting, speed events, roping events) the Youth Director will need a letter of intent which contains the following information: Exhibitor name, phone number, address, date of birth, AQHA ID #, horses name, horses AQHA reg. #, and the classes you would like to compete in. You will still need to participate in the youth requirements as a team member and will have to be a member of KQHYA prior to June 1st, 2009. We will also need proof of a record that you have shown somewhere in your classes of intent. Examples would be KCHA, High School Rodeo, AQHA, NRHA, NRCHA. Proof would be an association standings list or an entry blank/tab sheet.
