2009 Celebrating Kansas Show A Big Success

There were many new features to the shows this year. First and foremost was the generous donation of vehicles which allowed the amateurs to load and unload folks trailers to their stalling area for a free choice donation. A big thank you goes to Bucklin Tractor & Implement and Ron Yancey for donating the gator for this purpose.

The Kansas Amateur Quarter Horse Association sponsored the 2009 Celebrating Kansas Shows at the Kansas Coliseum in Wichita. This year the circuit consisted of 3 single judged shows and the return of the exhibitors party. This years party was hosted by Shannon Justice and featured several meat options on the grill and pot luck side dishes and desserts. The hamburgers and hotdogs were donated by Sams Club. A new addition to the festivities was the Pony Poop Bingo featuring Trigger the proud mount of Hailey Hall. For a donation willing participants were able to pick a square in the "pony pasture" and when Trigger made his first "deposit" the person owning that square received a the money in the pot. The lucky winner was Denny Hassett.

Another event was the silent auction which featured many items generously donated by interested in helping the amateurs. Donors and purchasers will be listed on the website as soon as they are received.

The show was well attended in spite of the economy and most classes had points to be earned. Manager Sue Nickel worked really hard on this event to ensure its success. Thanks to Sue and her helpers, the Amateur board and officers and all those volunteers who gave their time and energy. A special thanks goes out to Bucklin Tractor and Implement and Sams Club for their donations to the event.
