September Amateur Presidents Letter
Hi to everyone...
Hope your summer went well and you have accomplished what you set out to do.
I just came back from almost a week in Amarillo. The Select World. Quite a
show and nothing like you'd imagine. Of course, it's the older set (50plus)so
lots of kidding going on about walkers, oxygen, Depends and wrinkles !!! It's
lots of fun.
Although you can go out on the website (AQHA and KQHA) and see the "formal"
results, here's a list of out own Select group. By the way, a couple of names
have strong Kansas connections and you probably know them well.
A big congrats goes out to all these "Select Few"!
Ed Becker - 1st in Performance Aged Stallions with Radical Tony Tiger
5th 3yr old stallions with Cassini
Robin Bales - 8th Weanling Mares with Twentyfourkarat Rose
Greg DeMint - 1st Performance Aged Mares with Fancy Diamond Kid
Jim Holland - 1st Heading with With All Probability
Barbara Hoffer - 3rd Weanling Stallions with Biggest Asset
Dotty Kester - 8th 2yr Geldings with Intoxicating Dude
Victoria Miller-Pence - 6th 3yr Geldings with Esnip

13 Tie Down Roping with Tyrees Pojo
Kerry Newell - 8th Reining with Hailstorm Jaci
Stan O'Neil - 7th Heeling with Colonels Sarah
Sarah Smith - 1st 3yr Mares with RPL Ms Cheerful
Our fall show is fast approaching so I hope you all will be ready. They are
looking for volunteers, so please let the KQHA secretary know if you can help
out in any capacity. Volunteers really help a show be a success, so let Sandy
know if you can help.
Also a BIG REMINDER.... should you have trailer tickets to sell or have sold,
be sure and get them to Kathryn James. The drawing will be at the show and all
tickets and/or money needs to be turned in....
We also have had several of our amateurs out and about at the Palomino World,
Buckskin World, Paint World and Pinto Worlds. There have been several World and
Res World Champions and lots of top 10's coming from those Worlds. Some of our
amateurs in those ranks include, Debra Powers, Lynda Sharp, Barbara Hoffer,
Robin Bales, and myself. I am sure there might be others, so let me know and
we'll get you on the next time.
Debra Powers dad, Bill Sharp, has had a very rough summer and has been in and
out of the hospital. I am sure your thoughts will be appreciated as he tries to
heal and get back to "normal".
If you have any other information you'd like to share, please let me know.
Leslie
