2008 Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet A Success

Approximately 100 people braved the bitter cold to attend the awards banquet held in Salina Saturday January 19th. The highlight of the banquet were the special awards presented to the high point youth, novice youth, amateur, select amateur, amateur halter horse, open halter horse and open all around. The winners were:

14 - 18 - Mikaela Sundgren & Im Hotter N Blazes
novice youth - Chelsea Dietz & Hearts N Chips
novice amateur - Jennifer Bormann & Little Beau Peep RDB
amateur - Rebecca Shelton & So Suddenly Good
amateur select - Laurel Holladay & Principle N Sonny
amateur halter - Julie Muench & The Dapper Donn
open halter - Judith Muench & The Dapper Donn
open all around - Betty Murfin & Bud Light Please

The evening also included the presentation of the Mike Flach volunteer award to Mr. Larry Brown. Mr Brown is the grandfather of Chandry Kraft and has been an invaluable asset to the youth group over the years.

The last order of business was the announcement of the new additions to the KQHA Hall of Fame. This the committee decided that it was time to add Dean Smith of Council Grove and Tardy Too to the list of honorees.
