David C. May, 54, died May 4 at his home in Great Bend. He was born June 3, 1952, at Redbud, Ill., the son of Vernon and Shirley R. Rodenberg May. He married Karla S. Sprehe on May 24, 1975, at Elmhurst, Ill. He was a resident of Great Bend since 1993, coming from Salina. He was the assistant general manager of Pratt Feeders in Pratt.
May was a member of the United Church of Christ, Waterloo, Ill.; American Quarter Horse Association, Kansas Quarter Horse Association and University of Illinois Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife Karla, of the home; daughter Stephanie Davey, Delray Beach, Fla.; mother Shirley May, Waterloo; brother Daniel May of Colorado; and three sisters, Lyn May, Waterloo, Donna Underwood, Monticello, Ill., and Joann Steppig, Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon May, and a sister, Sandra May.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Hal Staats officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with family to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, all at the funeral home.
