Kansas Judging Teams Excel at AQHYA Contests
This year KQHYA sent 2 judging teams to the AQHYA Youth World in Fort Worth, TX. Both teams excelled in the competition with team A being declared the overall champion. In winning, team A captured the high point in Halter, and Performance and were runners up in Reasons. Team A members were Meg Drake, Courtney Douthit, Sarah Pankaskie and Jamie Dysart.
Team B was 5th in the Performance category and 6th overall in the contest. Team members were Katie Judd, Cassie Collins and Jessica Hertel.
Several of the team members received recognition for their individual performances as well. Courtney Douthit was the Reserve Overall Individual in the competition. Meg Drake placed 3rd, Jamie Dysart 4th and Katie Judd 6th. Thanks to Julie Voge for working with the youth judging teams and congratulations girls!!!
In the FFA/4H competition, the Jackson Co. team of Melissa Nelson, Calla Jarboe, Dylan Parks & Trevor Ashcroft placed 3rd overall , 1st in reasons and 5th in Performance. The team was coached by S. Dyann Parks.
Melissa Nelson was 3rd overall in the individual competition with a 6th in halter, 9th in performance and 8th in reasons. Trevor Ashcraft was 3rd in reasons. Calla Jarboe was 6th in reasons and 9th in halter.
Samantha Belsan from Shawnee was 10th in individual performance .
